Mark J. Sterner August 13, 1970 - December 27, 2019
Mark J. Sterner, 49, of Alburtis, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 in L.V. Hospital, Salisbury Twp. He was the husband of Lori L. (Holzinger) Sterner. They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in October. Born in Allentown, he was a son of Jon P. and Elaine J. (Erwine) Sterner of Whitehall. Mark was a graduate of Dieruff H.S. He worked at Rodale for the past 23 years. Mark was a member of the Traylor Engineering bowling team for over 30 years. He loved the Redskins, Pirates and Penn State sports. Mark enjoyed amusement parks, the beach, trivia and history and took many vacations to historical areas. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother and uncle and was wonderful to his family.

Mark R. Sterner VIRGINIA BEACH – Mark Raymond Sterner, 59, passed from this life May 20, 2009. He was born March 12, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio. His mother, Julia Elizabeth Clendenin and his half brother, Bill Clendenin, preceded him in death. He was a 1968 graduate of Norview High School. After graduating from high school, he attended Old Dominion University. He joined the Marine Corps Reserve in 1969. After boot camp at Parris Island, S.C., and Advanced Individual Training, he returned to Norfolk and joined a local Reserve enhet where he served until 1975. During that time, he completed a 4-year apprenticeship and became a journeyman brick mason. Mark applied his masonry skills to the construction of numerous local buildings to include the new Norview High School. A GM who found a way to make the Caribbean work
GOSTELOW REPORT—“Having been brought up around the world is really helpful when working in the Caribbean,” says Mark Sterner, general manager of St. Lucia’s Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort. “I know not to be a headmaster but a friend who wants to help.”
Born in Hanover, Germany, he spent his formative years traveling: “We seemed to move every two years. My father worked for the tourism division of Germany’s GTZ philanthropy. He set up and headed hotel schools in Serekunda, The Gambia; Djerba, Tunisia; Luxor, Egypt; Colombo, Sri Lanka; and Kabul, Afghanistan,” he explained.
His hotel career, which has included The Carlyle in New York as well as Gleneagles in Scotland, first brought him to the Caribbean 20 years ago. “I have worked on Barbados, Barbuda and Virgin Gorda.
