Biographie
[modifier | modifier le code]Harry Frommermann est issu d'une famille juive. Son père est un Russe de naissance. En 1922, Frommermann décide de fréquenter une école de théâtre mais se brouille avec son père à ce sujet. En 1924, il est exclu de l'école d'art dramatique. Après la mort de sa mère, il est complètement seul.
Il place une annonce dans un journal afin de recruter un ténor pour un ensemble unique. En raison du ralentissement économique, des centaines de candidats s'inscrivent, dont Johannes Heesters et Zarah Leander, complètement inconnus à l'époque. The Comedian Harmonists were an internationally famous, all-male German close harmonyensemble that performed between 1928 and 1934 as one of the most successful musical groups in Europe before World War II. The group consisted of Harry Frommermann [de] (tenor buffo), Asparuh "Ari" Leschnikoff [de] (first tenor), Erich A. Collin (second tenor), Roman Cycowski (baritone), Robert Biberti [de] (bass), and Erwin Bootz [de] (pianist).
The hallmark of the Comedian Harmonists was its members' ability to blend their voices together so that the individual singers could appear and disappear back into the vocal texture.
