      Joseph Freinademetz was born in in Badia, Italy. After his theological studies in Brixen he was ordained in which allowed him to preach to the community of San Martin de Tor, a town close to his home. Although he was a very appreciated priest, he always felt the calling to be a missionary. Therefore, moved to Steyl (Netherlands), where he was trained as a missionary.
