    Prophet or PROFIT?

    I really wanted to like this book more than I did, but I can't justify any rating over 3 stars.

    I love reading books about conspiracies, UFOs, paranormal situations and the like, so this title certainly piqued my interest. I purchased it a few months ago before the US Presidential elections and finally had a chance to read it. By the time I reached quatrain 8/15 boldly claiming the outcome of the election (Hillary Clinton would win according to the author's interpretation) I became very suspicious.

    The book starts with 16 plus pages consisting of an introduction, a preamble, and a biographical note. Right away, I sensed that the author was already spinning excuses as to why some of the quatrains in the previous editions of this book were off.     Michel de Nostredame (December – July [1]), usually Latinised as Nostradamus,[a] was a French astrologer, apothecary, physician, and reputed seer, who is best known for his book Les Prophéties (published in ), a collection of [b] poetic quatrains allegedly predicting future events.

    Nostradamus's father's family had originally been Jewish, but had converted to Catholic Christianity a generation before Nostradamus was born. He studied at the University of Avignon, but was forced to leave after just over a year when the university closed due to an outbreak of the plague. He worked as an apothecary for several years before entering the University of Montpellier, hoping to earn a doctorate, but was almost immediately expelled after his work as an apothecary (a manual trade forbidden by university statutes) was discovered.
