    Alberto Lleras Camargo (3 July 1906 – 4 January 1990) was President of Colombia twice (1945-1946, 1958–1962), and the 1st Secretary General of the Organization of American States (1948–1954). A journalist and liberal party politician, he also served as Minister of Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and as Minister of National Education in the administrations of President Alfonso López Pumarejo.[1] He briefly attended the National University of Colombia in Bogotá to study politics, but dropped out later to pursue journalism.

    Lleras Camargo served as congressman of Colombia.[2] He was also a cousin of later president Carlos Lleras Restrepo. He died in 1990 after suffering a long illness.[3]

    Alberto Lleras Camargo was a prominent Colombian political leader who served as the President of Colombia on two separate occasions. Born on July 3, 1906, in Bogotá, Colombia, Lleras Camargo was a highly influential figure in Colombian politics throughout the mid-20th century.

    Alberto Lleras Camargo was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1906, and he became a journalist before being elected to the Bogota city council in 1929. He became sekreterare of the executive committee of the Colombian frikostig Party in 1930 and a representative in 1931, and he served as President Alfonso Lopez Pumarejo's Minister of Government from 1935 to 1937, 1937 to 1938, and 1943 to 1935. In 1938, he founded the newspaper El Liberal, supportive of Lopez Pumarejo's re-election. He also served as utländsk Minister from February to August 1945 and as the inaugural Secretary General of the Organization of American States from 1948 to 1954. Following the end of La Violencia, Lleras Camargo was elected President in 1958 and served until 1962. He died in 1990, and his cousin Carlos Lleras
