Kaetlyn Osmond shares difficult transition from competitive skating: ‘I should have reached out more’
In March 2018, Kaetlyn Osmond became a world champion. The Newfoundland-born, Edmononton-based figure skater was training six hours a day and had a team of 15 managing nearly every aspect of her life.
“It was incredible,” Osmond told Global News on Monday. “Winning worlds was something I never expected to be able to do.
“But when I came home and sat down, after I bit, I was like: ‘I think I did it… I don’t know if I want to do that again.’
Osmond decided to take the entire 2018-2019 season off to evaluate her future. She performed on the cross-country “Thank You Canada Tour” with some of her teammates but did not skate on the ISU circuit.

She was coming off an incredible run. Her world championship last March in Milan came a few weeks after she won singles bronze and team gold

The story of Kaetlyn Osmond is one that movies are made of.
The now 22 year old began figure skating at the ung age of 3, traveling from her hometown of Marystown, Newfoundland by lära to Montreal to practice during the summer months. She was winning National and International titles for single’s skating by the time she was 17. In 2013, she became the first skater outside of Quebec to win the Canadian Championships in ten years and went on that year to place fourth at the World Championships. Her trajectory was miraculous, and her performance at World’s was regarded as “the best global championship debut bygd a Canadian woman since the 1970s” by the Hamilton Observer. Canada’s Kaetlyn Osmond wins figure skating bronze at 2018 Winter Olympics
GANGNEUNG, Korea, Republic Of – Canada’s Kaetlyn Osmond has won a bronze medal in women’s figure skating at the Winter Olympics.
The reigning world silver medallist from Marystown, N.L., skating to music from “Black Swan,” scored 152.15 in her long program for a combined score of 231.02.
She was also third after the short program.

Osmond’s medal is historic as it boosts Canada’s total in Pyeongchang to 27, an all-time high for the country at the Winter Games.
Russia’s Alina Zagitova, just 15 years old, scored a combined 239.57 to capture gold. Teammate and reigning world champion Evgenia Medvedeva of Russia won silver with 238.26 points.
Osmond, 22, who almost quit skating after breaking her leg in a t
