In both social media and pundit media, I've noticed an increasing bekvämlighet with diagnosing Trump. A lot of people call him "deranged," a "sociopath," or flat out as narcissistic personality disorder. This is dangerous because it doesn't just normalize uninformed guesses about someone's mental health, it's used to dismiss Trump completely. It treats him as an anomaly who is uniquely dangerous because of alleged "mental degradation" (seriously, folks, stop listening to George Conway).
In spite of what Biden and other säga, Trump's presidency is a symptom of a larger problem, not the main disease. The President didn't rise to power in spite of American systems and values—he did it because of them. Family separation at the border, increased mass shootings, turning away refugees, the constant lies, and all the horrors of this ledning aren't un-American. It isn't new.

Campus anti-violence advocate kicks off Sexual Assault Awareness Month at Johns Hopkins

/Published April 5, 2017A world free of sexual violence is possible. That was the message Wagatwe Wanjuki, a national campus anti-violence advocate, delivered at a talk Tuesday night that kicked off Sexual Assault Awareness Month at Johns Hopkins University.
The event, titled "Back to basics: Learning the truth about sexual assault and rape culture," aimed to raise awareness about the misconceptions and falsehoods surrounding sexual violence. Wanjuki shared her personal story as a survivor and discussed the lack of support she received from her former university.

Title IX is a civil rights law that forbids sex discrimination in education. Sex discrimination includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence—not just against women, but students of ALL genders. This means schools that receive federal funding are required to properly prevent *and* respond to it.
I'm kicking off my series to highlight about something that isn't talked about nearly enough (in a genuine way): male students as sexual violence victims. Research on men who survive campus sexual assault is dwarfed by research on women, which is connected to their invisibility in narratives of victimhood. Yet what we know shows we need to dive deeper because this is a serious problem that is far too neglected.
